About us

The Department

An all-volunteer department serving rural Morton County.

Our mission

It is the mission of the Mandan Rural Fire Department to provide the best possible emergency services to the people that live, visit and travel through the area served by the Mandan Rural Fire Department. We are constantly striving for improvements in the services provided, the quality of membership, the quality of training and education provided to our members, visitors and members of our fire protection district.

Who we are

The Mandan Rural Fire Department (MRFD) has protected the rural areas around Mandan for more than six decades. Our roughly 30 volunteers cover about 725 square miles of farmland, prairie, and growing rural neighborhoods in Morton County, North Dakota.

The department is entirely volunteer-staffed, many members with decades of service. We respond from our stations around the clock and year-round.

We don't work alone

Mutual aid

Big incidents need more than one department. We respond alongside neighboring rural districts and the City of Mandan when calls demand it.
