Director’s meeting of the MRFPD met January 21, 2026, at 8:00 P.M.
The meeting was called to order by President M Gartner. Directors in attendance were D Ell, S Gartner, M Gartner, T Gartner, D Gustin, T Kalvoda, K Kirchmeier, K Nelson, C Rebenitsch and J Steckler.Also in attendance were L Gustin, J Leingang and T Sheldon.
S Gartner presented the board with the Minutes, Treasurer’s Report and the monthly bills.
Motion by D Ell, 2nd by K Nelson to approve the minutes. Motion carried.
Motion by T Gartner, 2nd by D Gustin to approve and file the Treasurer’s report. Motion carried.
Radio Update: A meeting was held on the afternoon of Jan 21, and everything is ready. All have handheld radios. The installation on the trucks should start within the next week. It is possible to have all trucks switched over in a couple of weeks. The chiefs will name all designated channels. New pagers will be further in the future.
1099’s are all ready to be filed.S hould be e-filed next week and then mailed out.S Gartner also reported on the new computer and software.
Chief L Gustin reported on the Fire Department.
- Conex Box – We can buy now and they will hold until needed .One quote was $6,200.00.Another quote was $5,375.00.Motion made by K Kirchmeier, 2nd by C Rebenitsch to go with the lower quote. Motion carried.
- The chief has received several donations that have been deposited into savings.
- There is more warranty work to be completed on unit 141.
- The chief is busy putting in for different grants.
Into the Future:
- Think of ideas to keep the members of the department and ways to recruit new members
- Unit 148 needs to be replaced. Possible cost of $150,000.00 – $200,000.00
- Look to replace unit 142 in 2027.
- There was a lot of discussion on what it would take to replace station 1.
D Ell discussed why no meetings are being held in St Anthony.
Motion by T Kalvoda, 2nd by K Kirchmeier to pay the monthly bills. Motion carried.
Motion by K Kirchmeier, 2nd by T Gartner to adjourn the meeting. Motion carried.
