Regular Board Meeting

Director’s meeting of the MRFPD met on September 16, 2026, at 8:00 PM.

There was a Budget Hearing at 7:30 p.m.No one from the public showed up.

The meeting was called to order by Vice-President Duane Ell.Directors in attendance were D Ell, S Gartner, T Gartner, D Gustin, D Hille, J Hopkins, T Kalvoda, K Kirchmeier, B Klesalek, K Nelson, C Rebenitsch, J Steckler, P Sweeney and J Thomsen.Also in attendance were L Gustin, K Gustin and T Sheldon.

S Gartner presented the board with the Minutes, Treasurer’s Report and the Monthly bills.

Motion by J Steckler, 2nd by T Gartner to approve the minutes.Motion carried.

Discussion followed that the Treasurer’s report will now include a year-to-date Profit and Loss statement with all line items expanded out.

Motion by T Gartner, 2nd by T Kalvoda to approve the Treasurer’s Report.Motion carried.

Discussion on when to upload the agenda and minutes to the webpage.The agenda will be uploaded on the Saturday before the monthly meeting by noon.The minutes will be uploaded on the Saturday after the monthly meeting by noon.The minutes will show that they have not yet been approved.The minutes that were approved at the monthly meeting will be uploaded to the website the Saturday after the meeting they were approved at.

Motion by T Gartner, 2nd by J Thomsen to pay Taylor Bosch a sum of $7,500.00 for building the webpage.Motion carried.He did an excellent job.

Chief’s Report:

• There were a couple of large fires, including a large bale fire on the night of the 11th.The bale fire was started by fireworks.Some of the firefighters were there for 13 hours.
• Several donations have been made to the Fire Department, including one from TC Energy, for $10,500.00 to pay for a deck gun on the new truck.
• The bill for Unit 145 came in and was turned into the Insurance company.Insurance will pay almost all the bill, except for $532.00.
• Unit 1411 will go to Minot on Sunday for repair.The pump unit will cost $12,000.00, which does not include labor.Is there a budget for the repairs?We are hoping the cost is around $25,000.00 but it could go over.D Ell suggested we pay for the pump and replacement of parts up to $30,000.00
• Motion by J Hopkins, 2nd by K Nelson to approve $27,500, which is $7,500.00 above the original approved amount of $20,000.00.Motion carried.

Discussion was held for the minutes to include the total of the monthly expenditures in the minutes.The cut-off for the monthly expenditures will be the Friday before the monthly meeting.

Motion by K Kirchmeier, 2nd by T Gartner to pay the monthly expenditures of $10,899.41.Motion carried.

There were no questions submitted on previous agenda items.

Motion by K Kirchmeier, 2nd by J Hopkins to adjourn.Motion carried.
